Volume 9: Juif Pêche

Image
Bonjour les gens!     I hope everyone had a great Christmas! I sure did! Thank you all for the gifts, and all the Christmas messages! But before I get into that I have some fun stories to share with you all.     1) Story number one relates to the title of this email. For those who don't know "Juif Pêche" means Peach Jew in French. Now for the story: So ever since I found out my companion liked Starbucks, we made it our goal to go order some someday. Myself being oblivious I didn't realize the things I would have to say it's actually received my order. But I agreed to go anyways because it was something fun to do. When we got to Starbucks we sat in the car and studied up our order. Even though my order was one drink, and  probably one sentence long; it took me 10 minutes to figure out what to say and how to say properly. To make things better, instead of saying peach juice I was saying Peach Jew and I had no idea what the difference was. Luckily my companion caug...

Volume 8: Granby, Population~17

Salut mon amis! Comment ça va?     I got to say the first week was kind of a long one but it was also great one, I've already learned so much in such a short time. The first few days was a little kick in the face for some reason. It was probably because I was shocked that was actually there in Quebec with all the Frenchies. Actually it was probably the fact that when I got into the car with the two elders that picked me up they had three lessons, and a meeting all happening at once and they wanted me to be a part of them so that was terrifying. But all turned out good in the end. The two elders that got me were Elder Yanez and Elder McCoy. They're great missionaries and I'm grateful for them! But the apartment will be forever known as The Mouse House.     My new home is a little town an hour away from Montreal called Granby. Its a great place to live, but there's not much to do other than go to Walmart and the church. The church is the most amazing thing I've ever s...

Volume 7: The Mouse...

Salute mon amis!     I don't have much time but I'm safe, and I want to tell you a story. So yesterday, I was sitting and eating pizza talking to someone, when out of the corner of my eye I saw the butt and tail of a mouse crawl right behind me. I then came to know that the the elders I have been staying with (elder yannis, and elder mccoy) had a problem for a while... if you know me that was just fun!     I leave tomorrow for my real area, and guess what, it's all quebecois. So that will be an adventure since it will be even harder to understand than now. But I know I will be bless for my efforts!     I also got to see Elder Lopez, much love for that man!     Love all you! Elder May     Pictures: 1. Welcome to CMM 2. Elder Lopez and I 3. Notre Dame (I think)

Volume 6: The End? Not Quite

Salut, mes amis!     Well this marks the end of my MTC experience! I can’t believe how time really flies by when you are “all in” the work, even if it is all online! I am so grateful for everything that I have learned, and for all the people that have helped me grow throughout this experience!     This week went by so fast once again! We mainly talked about what the first few weeks in the field would look like, and of course French. We also asked a whole lot of questions, and were told many stories. All good things that will make the transition a little easier.     As you know I have learned so much from this unique experience, and I would like to share some of the principles that have impacted me the most (thank you to Sœur McCurdy for the wonderful idea)!     1) It’s not about you. Now this principle is brought to you by Sœur McCurdy, and I love it. It’s straight to the point, and it’s very personal. It has taught me that what I have been learni...

Volume 5: The Long, But Short Week

Image
Bonjour mon amis!     This week was kind of a weird one, even though it went by fast, it’s still felt as if it was long. I don’t know how to explain it but that’s just what happened. We did a lot of French, and a lot of practice teaching lessons. I love when we learn how to create our lessons in different ways. It helps so I don’t do the same thing each time I teach. One of the points made by my teacher was to only take 30 minutes to plan your lesson. This seemed odd to me because before my companion and I were taking longer than that, and we seemed to be doing fine. So with an upcoming lesson we decided to try this technique, and see how it worked. At the end of the 30 minutes we were able to come up with a great lesson, and it even gave us time to do other things. I learned that when we really set focus on one thing at a time, we can get a lot more done in the end.     In one of my TRC‘s this last week, my companion and I had this whole lesson planned out, and we w...
