Volume 6: The End? Not Quite

Salut, mes amis!

Well this marks the end of my MTC experience! I can’t believe how time really flies by when you are “all in” the work, even if it is all online! I am so grateful for everything that I have learned, and for all the people that have helped me grow throughout this experience!

This week went by so fast once again! We mainly talked about what the first few weeks in the field would look like, and of course French. We also asked a whole lot of questions, and were told many stories. All good things that will make the transition a little easier.

As you know I have learned so much from this unique experience, and I would like to share some of the principles that have impacted me the most (thank you to Sœur McCurdy for the wonderful idea)!

1) It’s not about you.

Now this principle is brought to you by Sœur McCurdy, and I love it. It’s straight to the point, and it’s very personal. It has taught me that what I have been learning isn’t about me. It’s about the people that need me to learn French for them, because they need me to teach the gospel in their language.

2) God has a plan for all of us.

French has been super hard for me, and sometimes I have questioned myself, and my ability to learn the language. But, when I have learned to realize God has a plan for each of us, I have been able to be at peace with myself. Especially the reality of how long it takes to learn a language.

3) Get over your stress, and have fun.

Now this one is something I really need to be better at. Since I get stressed over everything, this principle is perfect for me. I have learned that stress takes over the mind, and can prohibit your ability to properly process your thoughts. I know that if I can control my stress, and make the best out of each situation, I will be able to teach by the spirit (and have fun of course).

4) My district is amazing.

They have taught me so much, and I know we all are BFFs. Period.

5) My teachers are amazing.

I couldn’t have asked for better teachers, all 4 of them. Each one taught me so much about the gospel, and life itself. They will be missed!

6) My Champion

As I have described in all my emails, I love my companion. I am so grateful for all he has taught me! From sharing stories to, helping me with French, and most importantly, ukulele practice. Oh ya, and there is no way I could have forgotten our daily lego building from my lego advent calendar. All of these amazing things wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for champion study (which is what we call companion study). We only ever got a little distracted... only a little. But no matter what, we would always get something great out of each study.

“For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”-3 Nephi 13: 32-33

I know that when we put our trust in God, and seek the path of righteousness; God will bless us with what we need in life.

Love you all, and thank you for all your support!

Elder May
