Volume 4: The Package

Image
Salut tout le monde, quoi de neuf?     Another week at the home MTC has come and gone, and this week was particularly fast! It was probably because it was such a busy week, and I had lots to do (which I am truly grateful for by the way).     This week Elder Depew and I had two TRC’s, and they went great! Our lessons are really getting better as we keep teaching! I have personally been able to learn how to teach by the spirit, rather than just memorizing the lessons. As I have been able to do this, I have seen a huge improvement with the way I teach!     Another highlight would probably be our district activities/classes in general. I would say this week we learned most through our own creativity (you will see in the pictures below). One class we were told to come up with a way to memorize the first vision passage. But we were also told to make it fun, so as a collective we decided to draw it out. As you could tell by the pictures we did not hold back on it....

Volume 3: My First French Lesson

Salut tout le monde, ça va?!     So from the title of this email I bet you can all assume what I’m going to be talking about. My French TRC. For those who don’t know, TRC stands for Teaching Resource Centre. It’s basically teaching practice with random people over zoom. Just from the sound of that, doing this is English was freaking me out. You don’t even want to know what was going through my mind for the French TRC. Let’s just say there was a lot of freaking out (all internally tho) but it’s fine. In the end, my English ones have been going great, and giving me lots of confidence in teaching! Good thing I’m not teaching in English right? The reason why I’m bringing all this up is because I had my first French TRC yesterday, after two and half weeks in the MTC. Let’s just say I will probably always remember it. The lady we taught had a really sweet accent, sadly it made it harder to understand, especially for me. In the end, I probably only understood a quarter of what was sa...

Volume 2: French Is Hard!

Bonjour famille et amis! Comment allez-vous ?     Time really does fly by as a missionary! Can’t believe week 2 has already come and gone! December 15 is gonna come up quick!     The missionary schedule has started to become much more automatic for me which is great... minus the waking up aspect. I don’t know what it is but I’m not sure if I will ever get used to it, that’s just how life goes I guess. But other than that the mission life is going well! I love all 4 of my teachers! That’s right, I have 4 now. Like I said in my last email we were getting 2 new teachers for the remainder of the MTC, Sœur Rutter, and Sœur Moore. Sadly, Sœur Moore got sick, so Sœur Holt, Frere Miller came in to  save the day! I’m so grateful for all of my teachers! They know so much about the gospel, and I can’t wait to learn more! Most important, they really know how to make class fun! Then there is my district, I don’t even know where to start! They are amazing! We have the most fu...

Volume 1: First Email!

Salut tout le monde!     To start off I would like to apologize for not sending my email yesterday, it was a busy day! Saturday is my PDay, so that’s when I will be sending my emails from now on!     I’m going to be honest, my first week of the MTC was definitely amazing. It is so crazy how we can feel the spirit, even if it's through zoom! This week was also pretty stressful, we got into everything very fast! Let’s start with the things that were stressful, well, I really should be saying "thing". Any guesses? Well, it’s learning French. The French language is definitely something you can’t take lightly. I have learned that you need many, many hours of practice inside of class, as well as outside... and then even more after that because it's still not enough. But that’s what you would expect from learning a brand new language in 6 weeks! My elementary knowledge can only take me so far! Luckily, I have been able to become familiar with my new schedule, and I’m beginn...
