Volume 5: The Long, But Short Week
Bonjour mon amis!
This week was kind of a weird one, even though it went by fast, it’s still felt as if it was long. I don’t know how to explain it but that’s just what happened. We did a lot of French, and a lot of practice teaching lessons. I love when we learn how to create our lessons in different ways. It helps so I don’t do the same thing each time I teach. One of the points made by my teacher was to only take 30 minutes to plan your lesson. This seemed odd to me because before my companion and I were taking longer than that, and we seemed to be doing fine. So with an upcoming lesson we decided to try this technique, and see how it worked. At the end of the 30 minutes we were able to come up with a great lesson, and it even gave us time to do other things. I learned that when we really set focus on one thing at a time, we can get a lot more done in the end.
In one of my TRC‘s this last week, my companion and I had this whole lesson planned out, and we were excited to teach it. As we started teaching, we realized that our ami (whom we were teaching) was in need of something else than what we had planned. It was really cool how we were able to completely switch from what we had planned, to then teach based on what he needed. I know that the spirit was there to guide us through that time!
The district is doing Great! One of the highlights would have to be our little district meetings. This is when we share stories about our lives before the mission. Let’s just say everybody has some pretty good stories. Another great thing about my district are the lessons that we take turns teaching. My favourite one this week was when Sœur Stevens, and Sœur Rollins taught. Well it was more like Elder Stevens. When we came back from our break Sœur Steven’s dad was on zoom instead of her. We had a great talk about the book of Mormon, and he even shared his favourite scripture. It was a great way to start the lesson. Finally, in one of our classes we played a game where you basically just grab random things from your house. We ended up with about 10 items each, and my favourite one that I grabbed was probably the owl statue. It was really fun to explain to my district.
Ten days left! Can’t wait to get out there! Love all you, and stay safe!
Love Elder May
