Volume 96: Rémi Giguère Is My Hero.
Quoi de neuf ma famille? J'espère que vous allez très bien! Je sais que je vais bien surtout après cette semaine!
You can translate that if you want. It's fine.
This week was absolutely packed with the best and most precious memories ever! I'm so grateful to be a missionary! Each day this week we had something crazy happening. On Monday last week I knew the week coming up was going to fly by. It sure did. Life is good, really good!
On Tuesday we had the opportunity to give a teaching about social media to the entire mission. Honestly, I thought I would be more scared, but I wasn't, and we totally killed it. Later that day we taught many lessons, one of them was with Simon! He will be baptised in 2 weeks, so I will be able to hopefully attend online! He is so ready, and we are super excited for him! Later that night we had our weekly FHE volleyball night with the JAS members. We had a great turn out, and we had so much fun as always. This was a good day.
Then came Wednesday, or in other words "the service day". It all started with the weekly service at the friprix (a thrift shop), where the weird old québécois ladies flirt with my companion and I. We just run away from them as much as possible... sadly we aren't always successful. It's ok. After that, we helped someone move! It was a cute African family, and they were super nice! It feels good to serve others. After all that we taught our good friend Tommy. It was the first sit down lesson with him after his knee surgery so it was well needed. We talked about lots of good stuff, and we decided on a new baptism date for him! He will now be baptised on October 1! Keep praying for him!
This Thursday was a great day! We had good old District Council, and I had the opportunity to bear my testimony to my district! The spirit was super strong the whole time. After we had exchanges with some Elders in our district! We had a day packed with lessons (which is the best), so we were super busy the whole day. Our neighbours even made us lamb, potatos, and fried rice! It was super good!
The day before the baptism was Friday, and we wanted to make sure we were well prepared for the big day. The three companionships that were involved in the baptism all went to the church to clean and set up. We spent lots of time there to make sure it was all good. We were expecting lots of people to come! We knew this day was gonna be one to remember for everyone! After we got what we wanted all set up, Elder Bjornn and I had to set up for our big activity that was happening right after! We were getting ready for our sushi JAS night! We all made our own sushi and got to know all the JAS. It was awesome! But I would say the best part of the night was when Elder Bjornn cut Rémis hair for his big day. He is 100% a new man now, he looks so good! All you need is a garbage bag and some clips. Voilà!
Saturday was the big day! Rémi and 3 other people all got baptised as members of the Church of Jesus Christ! This was a special day! We got to the church 5 hours early to make sure everything was perfect. We are so blessed that we were able to get it all done with no problems. In the past on big days like this, there has been some problems so it's nice to say it all went well for us! Rémi was glowing the whole day. He is my hero. His path towards God has not been easy, but that didn't stop this man to be baptised. He did hard things, and he didn't do them alone. God truly was with him every step of the way, and I saw that unfold before my eyes. During the meeting, the only phrase I could use to describe it would be "spirit filled". Elder Bjornn and I gave a mini teaching in front of everyone about the Restoration of the church, and the missionares sang "Je suis enfant de Dieu" to everyone. It was perfect because Rémi invited his entire family (and more) to come see him on his big day. There were many tears, smiles, and hugs that day, and I know that there is big plan for Rémi and his family. I'm truly living the promise found in D&C 18:15-16:
“If it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father! And now, if your joy will be great with one soul that you have brought unto me into the kingdom of my Father, how great will be your joy if you should bring many souls unto me!”
Finally, on Sunday Rémi received the gift of the Holy Ghost, and I had the pleasure of being apart of the experience. It was the definition pure joy! Rémi has truly been born again.
In the end, this week has touched me greatly, and I'm infinitely grateful for the opportunity that I've had to serve the Lord at this time of my life. It's been life changing for me, and I know it's the best choice that I made. Even though I've been at my lowest, and have experienced many hard things; I'm forever grateful for what I've been able to learn from these experiences. I wouldn't of been able to learn them any other way then on my mission. Jesus loves you no matter what, and he is always ready to heal.
Il est mon roc.
À vendredi!
