Volume 69: If Satan Was An Object, He Would Be Snow
Well hi, this week was full of SNOW. Hense the name of this week's...disaster? Something like that, no it wasn't a disaster but it was something else. It snowed and blew all Tuesday, and Wednesday with a total of over 40 cm of snow... so it was basically horrible, and it was a nice blizzard here in Alma. 100% worse then the "Izzy" storm that happened a little while ago. That was child's play. But we are here to tell the tale.
Tuesday morning. It was definitely snowing lots, we knew it was gonna become something bigger when we saw what was coming down. But nothing that we haven't seen before so we were not worried. Around 3 we went to do some service for a member like we do each week. We go and we take our her garbage, and her recycling each week. The only thing is that we couldn't really see where we were going because the wind was blowing all the snow on the road. There were times where I definitely lost my sight lol, it's fine. When we got there it was hard to walk to her house. But we did it, and when we got up there she's like "can you shovel as well?" So we tried but the snow just kept blowing and no progress was made. Next we tried to put the garbage I'm the can and out on the curb. But neither of those tasks worked cause the garage went flying everywhere, and the garbage bins almost fell over. So we scratched those real fast. In the end we did something, and said it was good. Then we left. The snow kept coming down the rest of the day, and all night. So when we woke up to go to service, we were in a pickle. We definitely needed to shovel so we decided to leave 30 min earlier to shovel the driveway. We did some and realized we needed to leave, so we made an honest effort to leave, and that was our first mistake. We got stuck. I got out of the car, and my companion was like, "I'll try", and I was like "ok", and he did, and we got more stuck. So it was just an all around fail for the both of us. We started going ham, we shovel so much and basically cleared the whole driveway. But that did nothing, we were still stuck. After 2 hours, we knew it was kinda hopeless for us, so we called a member that had a truck. Thank goodness he answered, and he was able to come. So after a grand total of 3 hours, we got the car out. There was a lot of feelings expressed in this event. Good thing it's over. This week was basically just shoveling snow.
Another awesome thing that happened was actually on Monday last week. So we have this friend named André, and he has been taught by the missionaries for like 26 years...so he knows us. It was his birthday last Saturday, and we decided to get him some little Walmart cupcakes cause it's his birthday. So we delivered them and all was well. Now fast track to Monday, we go over there for supper, and we have this great pizza that he made. After he brings out dessert, and what does he bring? The cupcakes, and he didn't even eat one. We were like "those are for your birthday," and he was like "well I want to share". So we each took two, and he took none. After we left, he gave us the REST to take home...I guess he didn't like them. The same thing happened when we went over for dinner at the branch presidents home. We decided to bring these butter fudge things that someone gave to us as a gift to them so we didn't have to eat them. When we got there they were like "perfect now we can have dessert". I was like well ok I'll have some, that's fine. Well at the end of the day, my companion and I ate more than half of them and the rest of the company ate a total one...at the end they gave us the box to take home, along with 5 other things. It's hard to resist when they keep giving them to you.
The moral of the story is this week I learned that if you don't really want to eat something or anything in general, give it to someone that you will NOT see basically ever again so they don't give it back to you.
Ya that's all I have time for, peace.
