Volume 67: Food Should Stay In Your Mouth
Hiii y'all what's the news for this week? It's been a grind overhere, with lots of new experiences as always, so let's try and get into it with the time that I have.
The beginning of this week was so nice! It was in the positives and I saw the snow melting. It was so nice that I didn't even have to wear my big coat. I was so happy! Then on Thursday, it was minus 40 again like what the heck is happening. That was a sucky thing but I mean you live with it and then you get used to it. It also snowed another 15 centimeters, so all the snow that melted came back lol.
Sunday was a glorious day because we were able to attend in person church for the the first time in 2 months, and it happened to be my first time at church in Alma. What a glorious day it was. At one point I was actually worried that we wouldnt be able to have the meeting because at 9:50 am it was only me and my companion still... no one was showing up. Luckily 5 other people rolled in making us a grand total of 7 people at sacrement meeting. It was great, and the church building is so awesome, and so small. It's actually a building and not in a strip mall which is a nice change. The Branch Presidents wife makes brochures each Sunday for all of us, it called "Voix d'Alma", and it's so cute. They are the best. After sacrement meeting we were invited over to the Branch Presidents home for lunch. It was quite an experience. There was someone in particular who really liked to eat and chew with his mouth full, and it really was coming out of his mouth and onto my companion while he was trying to talk to him. It was awesome, and on the other side, there were 3 people blowing their noses all at the same time. It was just so funny and fun and all the other stuff. They are just the best, and the food was great. We actually had a salad this time, honestly it was really good. It was probably my first salad that I've had at a dinner in a looooong time. People don't like salad here I guess lol. Another thing is that if you combined my age and my companions, it would not be close to the ages of any of the people at the house. They are old. Bless their hearts.
A cool blessing that we had this week was when we received another refferal from the branch president. It was about an hour away, and luckily there was also a less active member that lived in the same little town as the refferal. But this person (the less active member) had already been called and he didn't want anything to do with us. But we decided to go to his house in person anyways (with cookies of course), and he actually let us in. Then we talked to him for like an hour and we figured out what his problem was with coming back to church. He really opened us to us, it was pretty cool! We are now going back next week!
We are gaining some new friends, and we are continuing to teach them! It's been a grind to find them but it's happening! We had a great discussion with one of our friends who likes talking and learning more about us and our beliefs. He is basically atheist but is interested so that's cool. We hope that he will be able to recognize God's love in his life!
I fell upon this scripture in my studies this morning and it was so awesome!
But that ye have patience, and bear with those afflictions, with a firm hope that ye shall one day rest from all your afflictions.
-Alma 34:41
Patience is so important! When we learn it, we are able to understand the people around us to much better. We can even come to understand why we are given the trials that we have in our life on earth. We are able to look at them in a positive way. I know that life is hard and it's not fun lots of the time, but I also know that there is a bigger picture in the end. Something greater that is eternal life. That is where we will be able to spend the rest and peace from our trials and afflictions, and be happy forever.
Ya that's all I got, peace!
