Volume 66: Bon Bin Les Boys

Well hey, what is les nouvelles?

Twas a busy week for us up North in Alma! We has lots of lessons, lots of driving, lots of snow, lots of French (always), lots of eating good food (for the most part), and lots of other stuff I don't remember. So overall it was solid. We also got transfer news once again, and as expected I will be staying in Alma with Elder Chadbolt. I will now have the opportunity to send my 3rd companion home, which means I will probably be in Alma for at least the next 3 months. It's a vibe. I just can't wait for the snow to melt... I'm kinda over it honestly but it started snowing last night, and I woke up with it still snowing... so not sure when I will be able to get rid of it. Just got to keep going with that.

Let's see what happened this week. Well we had a lot of fun at our food bank this week. We went in as always and noticed that everything was reorganized, and realized that the old lady last week that came, decided that before it wasn't good enough and moved everything herself. She is very firm with her opinions, and she's probably the boss. But when we got there we all of a sudden went sport mode and took everything out the freezer and reorganized it all. You listen to this lady, so that's what we did. After we could hear that she was roasting the guy that was telling us what to do before she came in. It was awkward. But we finished it all and it was great. There was another lady that was full of energy at 9 am, she found joy in sorting frozen, expired meat. She's my idol. She also kept saying "Bon Bin Les Boys", which can really mean a lot of things. She's basically saying good work boys. It was great. I look forward to working there every week, and we might even start going 3 times a week if we can't find anywhere else to go. They are so far the only place that allows us to go and help them out.

This week we also had Zone Conference. But it was over zoom... kinda a big bummer but it's fine. I'm over it. Lets just hope that we don't have to do it again. I think that we will be good from now on but thats what I thought last time lol, anyways we had a great conference and I learned a lot of things from President and Sister Harkness. They are really smart and know lots about the gospel. This time we talked about the importance of repentance, and teaching our friends how important it is. We have been breaking down the missionary purpose each zone conference, so that's why we talked about repentance this time. Ya that's really it, not very exciting with zone conference over zoom. Something that my president said that I liked was the principle of living what we preach. We need to actually do the things that we are helping our friends learn to do (basically live the gospel), so that they will be able to feel Gods love more and have the desire to follow in the Christ's footsteps, and ultimately choose to repent. It was pretty awesome!

We also had exchanges this week! The one other group of Elders that are close to us hahaz it was pretty cool! It was also only in French cause my district leader is from France and doesn't speak English. So it was pretty cool to test my level of French with them! We had lots of fun, and ate a lot of good food. We had A&W, and we went to this fancier restaurant called la cage. It was super good and they gave us unlimited popcorn so we ate a lot of that. I was with Elder Flynn, and we taught a member who was the most smiley man ever. He didn't stop, kinda creepy, but it was borderline. He haa read the Book of Mormon over 100 times, the Bible 6, and the other books of scripture like 18. He has like 50 full sized notebooks full of notes as well. I don't think he leaves his home. But he has a really cool old book of Mormon in French that I took a picture of. He was fun. We also tried walking around, but there was again no one outside cause of was freezing. Like wow, I could barely move my face up and down. Overall a great time in Chicoutimi.

Finally we had 2 friends at church, and we were blessed to find 2 people last night! There is such a power in fasting! I've truly learned that on my mission! The Lord is continuing his work no matter what, and it's great to see it all pan out way up north in Alma! I'm excited to see what happens here in the next (probably) 3 or more months. More adventures to come!
