Volume 63: Why Ya Gotta Be Like That Izzy
Hi mes friends.
So we have been stuck inside all day because of the winter storm which is called Izzy. It has a name so I guess it is serious or official. Something like that. So our president called us up on a video call and said that we all had to stay inside for our p-day because there would be a lot of snow on the road and he didn't want us to get stuck or anything like that. So I guess it makes sense so we've just been inside all day chilling and cleaning our apartment which needed it because the person that we bought it from didn't really keep it very clean... so we are fixing that. Let's just say he had a cat and he didn't like to clean up his poop. So all is really great here in Alma. Hopefully the roads won't be blocked or something like that but Quebec is very good at getting those big machines out to plow the snow so we should be good.
This week was slow and fast at the same time I would say. Really what we did was shovel snow, serve at the food bank, and drive a lot to see all the people that we can. We have a lot of people well not a lot but we have people who are about an hour away from us way more North than we are which is pretty far. So we making an effort to go see them so that we can help them, and set up a lesson. Road trips and that's pretty fun. It's pretty cool that I'm able to explore Northern Quebec and there's no other area that would be able to do this so it's pretty cool experience that we're able to drive up and just see just how much snow there is. That's basically all we see lol. And everyone just uses Ski-Doo as transportation so we see a lot of that as welland its pretty dope.
Something that happened this week was when we went to try and plug in our car, we realized that there wasn't really a plug-in for us. As we were doing that our downstairs neighbor came out of his home. He is an all-time hippie and I honestly thought he was dead in his house because he had not left for a week and all we could hear was the same music being played from our house. We get to hear it through the floor, and is the same space spaceship music or some kind of weird music (low key relaxing tho). Even when we woke up at 6:30 we could hear it and we almost went to knock on his door but then we saw him come out when we were trying to plug in their car. I'm really oh okay he's alone, and he said that there was another outlet that we could use! Kinda good timing. Then he left, and I am only imagine where he went. When he came back he offered to give us his latter so we went to get it quick... then we ended up listening to his whole life story. When he asked me where I was from and I was like "Medicine Hat" and he looks at me and she starts laughing. He's like oh I know Medicine Hat. Then 30 minutes to an hour later we are still listening and he just keeps going here by year of his life from when he was 18. Now know a lot about him so it's pretty cool and next time he's going to show us some pictures. Love how you can make those connections anywhere you go in the world.
We were also able to find someone to teach over social media which is super exciting! That meant that we were able to reach our goal, so the Lord was with us this week even though it was a little bit of a slower one. I'm very grateful for social media it's been such a blessing to use here in Alma since no one's really seen it in two full years. We are hoping that our new friend is able to continue to feel God's love! So we'll be working with him a lot as much as we can.
I've been doing come follow me in French and it's been awesome! It's so cool to learn about the old testament in a way that's engaging and effective! I just need to actually be able to keep up on it! It's such a great reminder to know that God has truly given us agency from the beginning! What a blessed gift!
Say safe and just think hot weather!
