Volume 57: Asante

Habari, what's happening?

This week zoomed like wow. It was like one thing after another, then boom it's Sunday (PDay Eve), and that's a glorious day! So ya this week was filled with lots of great stuff, and most of it was lessons and light the world! Light the world is awesome, and we have lots of great opportunities to serve others! Also it just means Christmas is coming lol.

First we have a miracle that was crazy. So basically we have been working with a less active member for a while! She is amazing! We do service at her house every week, and she just has the best energy ever! She even came to church yesterday!!! That was a huge step for her, and we were all so happy to see her there! But anyways one day she told us there was a new family that just moved here from Africa. She said they speak Swahili, and some French, so she asked if we could help her install some curtains for them. Of course we said yes! So we went over there, and I had no idea what to accept so it was all just with faith that it would all work out. When we got in there, I saw like 4 kids in the main area, then like 5 min later 3 kids walked out if a room, then like 3 more out of the bathroom. I was just so confused. I think they have 8 kids or something, so 10 with the parents. They were all just staring at us putting up the curtains lol it was funny. But the little problem we had was that they literally speak no French... only Swahili. So we were doing sign language, like drawing pictures, basically anything we could but not much was taken. All they kept saying was oui oui or yes. Luckily we found a translator over the phone and all was good. Then a few days later we went back again to help finish the project, and set up a tv. But this time, there were people at their house that spoke French and Swahili who live an hour away. They made friends fast. So we went in to put up the tv, and we were already on a time crunch with another appointment, so we were just planning on leaving the box inside cause we were just helping. Well, that's not what they thought. We instantly became the tv guys, and they thought we worked for some tv company... so I was trying to explain that we were not, and that we were missionnaires, it still didn't work. So we set up the tv and were late to the other appointment lol. Anyways then we went back one more time to finish more curtains. That time we were able to give them a Book of Mormon in Swahili, and set up an appointment! How are we going to communicate with them you might ask? Well, one of the Sisters here knows an Elder who is serving in Africa speaking Swahili! So he will help us. God is helping us through this peculiar experience! Ps. Asante means thank you in Swahili.

Our friend Jasmine us going to get baptized this Sunday! There was a little bit of tention getting all that set up but I'm greatful that we are at the point now. It's a blessing! Also we have a friend named Abdou who comes to church every week, and just yesterday he leaned over to me asked if baptism was important for us. I said yes it is! He then said he wanted to learn more about it! So cool!

We made Christmas cookies with the less active member, and that was awesome. I've never actually made cookies like that before, it was so fun! I made 2 cause I wanted them to be nice. Then I gave up and made them not nice. They still taste the same tho lol that's the wonderful thing about cookies.

Practicing so much piano! We have our Christmas concert that we're holding as missionnaires for the whole branche and their friends! We are putting lots of work into it so we hope it turn out well! We will also be caroling, making cookies, and trying to talk to the most people possible without dying in the cold. I love Christmas, it really is the most wonderful time of the year. I hope you all can find joy with this time of year, and that you can enjoy the true meaning of Christmas!

This verse is so good!

Alma 26:22

Yea, he that repenteth and exerciseth faith, and bringeth forth good works, and prayeth continually without ceasing—unto such it is given to know the mysteries of God; yea, unto such it shall be given to reveal things which never have been revealed; yea, and it shall be given unto such to bring thousands of souls to repentance, even as it has been given unto us to bring these our brethren to repentance.

This has given me so much confort to know that as we do the little things like pray, have faith, and continue to ask God through prayer; we can know the mysteries of God!

Hope you have a great week! Keep being Merry!
