Volume 51: Tender Mercies!
Hey yo,
Another week gone, and I'd say I'm glad it's over. It was just a long one, and I'm not sure what even happened, other than we went to Québec City for a special conference with our new zone! That was fun. We also had our mission tour, which was filled with the spirit and lots of things learned! Sooooo I guess there were good things here, but it still felt long no doubt about that. We just had lots of rejection and just not lots of success. But we did see the hand of God this week dispite all those crazy things! As Elder Curtis would say a lot this week "we have had a lot of tender mercies lately", so here are some of them!
1. The Luggage of Elder Curtis has arrived! I don't think we prayed harder. And you already know how much we pray already so that's saying a lot. Let's just say there was a big lesson learned, and also many emotions shared with people. I will leave it at that! All good here. But it was insane we called like 50 times I swear, and we got so many different answers from different people, it just kept getting confusing. At one point we thought the bags were in Philadelphia, Phoenix, Thetford Mines, Dallas, Québec City, and Montreal so it was wack. Luckily after many days we got them all Wednesday night. Looking back we were blessed, and Elder Curtis shared with us after how many cool experiences he had at the airport after he missed his first flight. It was quite remarkable! He met so many good people and was able to share the gospel with them! We all know it was God's plan for this to happen, and we are so grateful to be apart of it.
2. This was a really good one! It was after a member lesson, which went ok but it was just kind of draining. We honestly didn't really get much sleep this week (probably why the week dragged) but it was just meh. After it was like 8:15 and we were on the fence of just going home and finishing up the night finding on social media or doing one last contact in person (people usually don't like when we come at this time so that's why it was like iffy or whatever). Personally I was kinda done and tired, so I asked my 2 wonderful trainees what they wanted to do (thinking that they would just agree with me). One of then did, but the other was like "let's just do it, what's the worst that can happen." So I was like, alright let's go. So we went and did it. As we were waiting I thought it was gonna be a yeller, but we ended up having a great conversation, and we set up a return appointment! I'm so grateful for my companions! We all have an equal part in this work no matter how long you have been out on your mission.
3. We have a friend named Magalie who is so cool! She's our age so it's fun to talk and get to know someone who's interested in the gospel, and not an old person. But remember age doesn't matter I love everyone. It's been super hard to get lessons with her cause she goes to school in Montreal then comes back on the weekends to go to church and stay with her parents. So its crazy, but we had such a great conversation with her! We set up a time to eat Poutine with her and another member, so that will be so fun! She also told us "just call me in zoom and we can do a lesson", I was like bruh I'm so dumb, zoom DOES exist still. We didn't even think of that. But love how she did.
4. We have had 0 luck with appartments for the sister missionaries. It's sucked cause we really are excited to get more missionaries here! So thats sucked, but we've been praying lots and literally yesterday we were in a meeting with our Branch, and they found 3 right in front of us... on the website that we used that same day I was like bruhhhhhh why does that happen. Also someone got back to us to look at one of them so we will be doing that tomorrow!
5. After a week of finding no one, so much rejection and just sad stuff, we were able to find at least one person Sunday night, right before the week ended. We were grateful for that. Also we had 2 people at chruch. Even though that didn't reflect the goals we had, that was a blessing dispite what we went through this week.
Looking back on this week was just a testimony builder. Some weeks suck, some weeks are the bomb. But if you look for God in your day you will literally always find him. It's pretty crazy. I challenge yall to just reflect on your day and see all the blessings that God has given you. You will be suprised. I was even surprised when I was making this email. The 3 tender mercies I had thought of just turned to 5 just like that. God loves you!
This scripture reflects this week perfectly! Ether 12:12 says!
For if there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith.
Amen my brethren.
