Volume 42: Please Don't Say I Love You

Salut à tous!

This was another fast week! We had lots of events that happened throughout the week, so that made it go by a lot faster! It's also sooooo hot here it's like 40 with the humidity, it's literally insane. Luckily we have decent AC in the appartment so we are blessed to have that. It's just supposed to get hotter tho. Summer as a missionary is definitely something else, wearing white shirts and ties in in the heat all the time is a different feeling.

We had zone conference this week! It was awesome, and the first one from President Harkness, so it was quite different than the ones we are used to with President Low. But it was great, and I learned a lot about the importance of counciling with others in the mission. The point that stook out to me the most was how to prepare for councils (any type). President and Sister Harkness stressed that it really is simply studying the scriptures, praying, and just being good people that will keep the spirit with us, and give us the capacity to receive revelation for the specific council. It was very comforting, cause a lot of times you feel like you know nothing, but we can rely on the spirit to guide us as we are prepared by doing the little things.

A few interesting experiences this week... here are 3 great ones.

1. So my companion and I (to find people to teach) go on Facebook and just type in names and then search up people to text. So we have been doing that for a while, and there was this one guy who seemed interested in religion, stuff like that, and eventually he invited us over for supper. Obviously I looked all over his profile, and yes he was a little odd, but it's fine cause he is being nice. So we went over there and he had 3 othee friends there to. It was the smallest appartment on the hottest day with all the buttons of the stove on. So ya it was hot. He showed us all his statues in his house and stuff like that. Ya he is odd. Maybe we won't go back. He said that he was gonna make us fish and veggies. So I was like ok nice we might get some salmon (he was hyping it up) and some nice veggies... nah we got some frozen breaded stuff that hopefully was fish lol so that was good. But the thing that threw me off the most was he left us with a "je vous aime" at the end which is I love you... I will leave it at that. Québécois are different.

2. We were knocking some houses and we came across someone that moved. So it wasn't who were were looking for. We were talking in french, and he didn't understand, he said "only Spanish and little English". Well we really was only Spanish. So with the 10 words total that we new in Spanish we told him the Spanish elders would come. It wasn't some glorious moment that's for sure. I honestly don't think he understood but it's fine.

3. We are teaching this guy named Elmer. When we went to his house for the first time we only had the blessing to look in his house... That's blessing. We didn't want to go in. But the second time we went there, we went in... it was the grossest appartment I've ever seen. Stuff piled everywhere, smelled really bad, writing on the wall, random photos, it had it all. To tie it all together he opened the door basically naked and it took him like 7 minutes to put on pants that were right in front of him. Not sure what's up. To make it better his wife hates us, so we were only let in cause she wasn't there.

Blessings would be that we have someone date (we will see with him). Also a few who are progressing quite well! We are seeing lots of blessings.

Transfer updates would be that they are every week until October so we have some tomorrow. It's Insane here so I could be moved multiple times. President just said to live our if your suitcase for a while.

Cool experience was yesterday I gave my introduction testimony (it was 4 weeks late), and I didn't know I was doing it until like 10 min before sacrement meeting so I was freaking out and nervous. So I quickly prepared something and waited very anxiously. It's crazy how much you can doubt yourself in such little time. But it's also so crazy how fast the fear can leave you when you have the faith and the Lord on your side. Right as I looked out in the big chapel with everyone watching me, the fear left me. It reminded me of when Joseph Smith saw the angel Moroni Joseph Smith said "When I first looked upon him, I was afraid; but the fear soon left me." We can only have fear for so long because faith casteth out fear everytime. So that was a cool experience. In conclusion I did pretty good.

That's all for this week! Love you all keep being awesome!
