Volume 32: Karen Strikes Again Pt.2 Covid Shot
Salut tout le monde!
I hope everyone had a great week! I didn't think it could get hotter but I was wrong that's for sure. We were on the phone with a member, and we said we were having a good day cause of the warm weather. He was like why would you be excited, it's only 45% humidity, just wait till it gets to 95%. So that's gonna be nice to talk around in. I already feel like I'm in Hawaii, and I like it. But I feel like soon I'm gonna feel like I'm in a volcano, which I won't like.
I said good bye to Elder Salmon last week, he was definitely excited to go home. It was a long night of packing, let's just say sleep wasn't a priority for us. So when we had to drive 2 hours plus to Montréal and back, I wasn't too keen on it... but it's fine I survived thanks to diet coke. It was nice to see the mission office again, it had been quite a while since I've been there, and I was able to see a few familiar faces! But don't worry I'll be back when I take my new companion there so he can go home. My new comp is Elder Rigby, and he is pretty great and focused which is awesome. He also speaks like 7 languages so that's good. My favorite thing was our first lesson together. It was with a member and the first thing that she said to Elder Rigby after he spoke was "wow your like a buissness man", and I couldn't agree more. Just the words he uses are like Woah, y'all understand.
Oh ya I got vaccinated yesterday. It was spur of the moment, I was in the mission office and the mission nurse was like "do you want to get the covid shot" and I was like uhhhhh sure. I didn't really think much about it but I was down. So ya we got that yesterday, and it was pretty busy, but when I got to my turn I was really to do this in French. But the lady stopped and asked me if I new how to speak French to begin and I was like ya but I'm still learning. Well I guess that turned off her temper cause she didn't want to deal with me after that so she moved to where someone spoke English. Karen's, they are everywhere. It's fine I have it now.
Cool spiritual experience this week! So since Elder Salmon is gone, I am the leader of the area in Sherbrooke! So basically I call lots of the shots cause Ive been here longest. So I was definitely nervous about doing it as always but I've been able to find comfort in doing it for sure. Like with Elder Salmon I could teach fine and all that, but it was still hard to understand lots of the people cause of their thick accents. So that's also why I was nervous of him leaving. But like the first French lesson I had with my new companion I literally understood every word and I actually contributed a normal amount, definitely more then usual. Since then it's just been easier to understand the people that I couldn't before. Even through its not absolutely perfect now, I still can see all the belssings that God has given me with this language. It's strengthened my testimony that miracles truly come after the trial of our faith, not before. Just got to keep going.
Another great miracle, I was in a lesson with someone we are teaching. Her name is Sonia. She is probably the hardest for me to understand. So the beginning was like very hard for me. But I remembered a quote that I have at me desk that always keeps me going.
Fear, doubt, discouragement will weaken your faith. Remember I'm here and never give up.
-God
That's the format it's in (it's as if God is saying it) it's got me through all the times that I've experienced. Once I remembered that we said the prayer to start the lesson and the spirit hit me in a good way and we just went for it. It ended up being the best lesson with her yet, so that tells me again that we will see miracles after the trials of our faith. I hope y'all remember that the next time something's hard. And if it's extra hard, just pray, God's plan is the best plan no matter what.
Love y'all and have a great week with Summer! (Almost lol).
