Volume 20: My Worst Fear
Salut mes ami, ça va?
Even though this week was a day longer, it didn't feel like it. It's been pretty crazy with transfers happening tomorrow, and with us just having a baptism on Sunday. So time had gone by pretty fast!
Anyways so my biggest fear... well, transfers have yet to not make me stressed out. I guess you get more stress each time? I would have to say yes. Sadly, the time has now come for Elder Forsyth to leave me. I'm officially not being trained anymore, and I'm now just a normal missionary I guess. But now I'm susceptible to receiving a leadership position... now that's a whole other side of crazy. But luckily, I don't have to worry about that yet, so I will not get into it. On the other hand a new crazy has come into play. One of my fears coming into the mission was getting a companion that didn't know how to speak French. Well, that prophecy has now been fulfilled... kinda. My new companion is Elder Geisbrect, and he was called English speaking. But as he's been in Montréal, he's been learning French because hes wanted to go to a French area for a while. So he's coming here with me, his first ever French area. I have no idea who he is so I don't know what to expect, but maybe he's fluent in French. We will have to see.
On a happier note, Sylvia got baptized on Sunday! It was quite remarkable since many things kept getting in the way. Satan just needs to stop. Anyways we all got to the chapel safely dispite the random SNOWSTORM, like why it's been beautiful here, then it desided to snow a lot. Now it's nice again so not sure how that works. Then there was a man who decided to livestream the baptism... ya the branch president was not ok with that and he was shut down quite fast. Also that same man just kinda showed up some how, and was the cause of most of the issues. But dispite alllllll that, Sylvia was baptised and all is well. I had the opportunity to give her the gift of the Holy Ghost, and wow that's the most stressed I've been (so far, it will probably get worse). I was shaking the whole time, and I bet I was moving her head as I was doing the blessing. But in the end, I did it and it was a great experience! The gift of tongues was real, and I'm so grateful for that cause there's no other way I could of done that. Thank you all for praying for Sylvia, it's made a huge difference in her life!
That's really what the week was for me, pretty packed with stuff. It's weird seeing Elder Forsyth pack all his stuff, he's litterly just moving out, and tomorrow I get someone new. I feel like I'm starting over, but I know that's not true because since I've been here the longest now, I have to lead the area... so I am moving up in this new life of mine. This is also terrifying, but I'm glad it's in Granby because it's small and a good start for bigger things to come.
Today we are gonna have a district PDay (which we didn't even know we could do until now). We initially planned to go to a Maple Shack which is literally where they make all the maple syrup. There are so many maple trees here it's crazy. They have blue tubes along the roads that all are connected to the trees, and lead to the shacks. Thats where they make 83% of the worlds maple syrup, so it's pretty cool. But, we just found out this morning that they are only open on the weekends... our plan was to get the food that they serve cause I guess it's pretty famous. They basically cook a full meal in pure maple syrup, then you put more on top to finish it off. I might die after I eventually try it but it's all worth it. Maybe ill go on a one year clenz diet to help with that. Our compromise now is McDonald's, so I will be enjoying chicken nuggets and hot mustard for lunch.
I hope y'all have a great week! Here's to warm weather!
Love Elder May
