Volume 18: Les Chats

Coucou tout le monde (I guess the French people say that as "hello" to babies and little kids, I was really confused when I heard it, and didn't know what it was but it makes sense now). I hope everyone had a great week, mine was sure better than last week, thank goodness.

Stories are always a good way to start so here's one. We went over to shovel snow for our good old (litterly) friend Annie. She is 94, and as spicy as can be. In return she made us some dinner, so it was a good deal. Luckily it wasn't to cold out, because I still seem to think I'm greater than the cold, and never bring gloves. I don't know when I'll learn, but so far I've been able to withstand it; so we will see when that comes back to bite me. Anyways, we found out she has a lot of land, so that made for a long time shoveling. She has a huge garden, a barn for animals, and like 20 maple trees. So we cleared all the paths so she could walk outside. I'm not sure how she takes care of it all but she does. Props to her. As we were shoveling she literally stood out of the back door and told us what to do, it was great. After like 30 minutes, I noticed that she was saying something, so I turned towards her and noticed she was talking to something under this tarp of wood. I was very confused, but she's 94 so I guess it makes sense. I eventually found out that she had a nest of cats living under there. I guess she takes care of them. Frankly, I have no idea how that happened, but I hope they will survive. I guess you really do learn something everyday.

Not all of our lessons fell through this week, yay! It was definitely a relief to have things to do in this apartment, and actually put what I've been practicing into real situations. There were three great lessons that I would like to share! The first 2 were with our only friend on a date for baptism. We've been trying really hard to have lessons with her in the past, but her work was always in the way (which is fine cause people have lives lol). Now all of a sudden she has been able to plan lessons with us around her work, and it's been great! We just moved her date for baptism a month earlier! She's ready. The next lesson wasn't with anyone from Granby, or Québec, or Canada, or even North America. It was a man from Africa! I had the opportunity to teach him a lesson because we were in exchanges (this is when you basically switch companions for a day). When my district leader assigned me to do it, I was not looking forward to it cause I still can't really understand what people are saying. For me it's harder to listen then talk, so I was definitely scared. To make it even better we didn't have much time to plan (mostly for me to prepare myself mentally, cause that's important), and to make it EVEN better the connection wasn't good. But I would like to let you know I talked for almost half the lesson. God is good, there is no other way I could of done that.

We had interviews with the president in person this week, and zone conference as well (not in person). Hopefully sometime in the future we can have zone conference in person! This week we have district council, which is always fun. Road trips are the best... well they kind of have to be cause it's over an hour there, and back. We make it fun. It's nice to go to an actual city with stores, cause as y'all know we got Walmart.

My spiritual message is based off a missionary who gave their closing testimony this week!

And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.(1 Samuel 3:19)

As we continue to grow with the Lord and try our best, our efforts will not be wasted. Small and simple things are great things brought to pass, and when we open our mouths the Lord will deliver, and we will touch the lives of others. Finally to all the missionaries here, the Lord is proud of you!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Avec amour,

Elder May
