Volume 12: Le Po-Po

Quoi de neuf tout le monde!

Hope you all understand the title of my email... you will understand when you read the story connected to it so don't worry. Also, I just put "le" at the beginning to make it sound French.

So a few days ago, Elder Forsyth and I decided to go to this Frozen like to take some pictures. We have been there before, so why would there be any problems right? We got there and parked at about 3 in the afternoon. And went on our way to check out the lake. There were only a few cars there so nothing seemed weird or off at all. We spent about an hour and a half there just exploring and doing something other than sitting in the apartment. When about about 4:30 hit, it was time for us to go because we have to pick up some dinner, and deliver something to somebody. So we decided to go back to the vehicle and leave after a great time outside. When we got in the vehicle and drove down to the exit, we had a surprise waiting for us. There was a gate blocking us from leaving, and there was a code, so we couldn't even move it. So that put us in a little bit of a pickle. Luckily we weren't the only ones that made this whoopsie, and there was one other vehicle with us. We looked around and noticed that there was a city worker in front of us working on a electrical pole and I think he was just laughing at this so that's great. But we noticed that there was a sign at the entrance saying that the gate closed an hour before sunset (which is super weird because Elder Forsyth has been to this place many times and it's been dark so not sure where that sign came from, must of just appeared out of thin air) so I guess it made sense that the gate was closed. The sign said to call the cops so that they could let us free, so that's what we did. We waited like half an hour, 45 minutes, so not too bad. Just relaxed in a warm car. When the cop finally came she exclaimed that this was a new thing and that we should be more mindful of the sign... what great information. Luckily I decided to take my license with me because she asked for them. I wasn't going to, since we were just going to a park. So now I'm in the Quebec system so that's kind of cool. Then she asked what we were doing at this time of night, when really it was only like five. We explaind what we were doing, and who we were, and she gave us a warning and said not to do it again. In the end, the Lord was with us and luckily we weren't fined. Also in the middle if all this, the person that was with us called her husband and ditched us pretty fast without even saying anything. I mean, I don't blame her.

Another thing is that I have learned more about the legend of zelda, this week than I have my whole life. Its crazy, and I now know it all. Now I truly believe that you can always find something in common with anyone, even if its all you have to talk about to have a good time.

I had my first Zone Conference this week, and it was great. We were going to have it in person but the new rules stopped that one a week before... so close. But we still had a great time and my zone is super fun. Hopefully next time we can do it person.

I forgot to mention in my other emails that we are actually getting a new Mission President starting July first! It will be Elder, and Sister Harkness! Yes, if that name sounds familiar to you, you aren't going crazy. She has spoken in General Conference. Sister Harkness is actually he first councilor of the general primary presidency... of the whole church. Not just a ward or stake, it's legit. So I'm kinda freaked but like it will be good.

Finally some spiritual experiences from this week! I have been praying lots that we will be able to find new people through facebook, and that our efforts will pay off. Two days ago we got a referral from other elders of a man who wanted a bible here in Granby! We were very excited, and this guy seemed great! So we went to deliver the bible to find out that there are 6 of them all with the same desire to learn more! They even have little kids! Then we introduced the Book of Mormon to him and he took it with no question. We are exited to see what happens! Also, the same night I got a message from someone wanting a Book of Mormon, and she was also looking for somewhere to go to church! I know the Lord answers our prayers!

I will leave you with a quote from this talk I read this week called "The Light in Their Eyes," by James E. Faust. I suggest you all read it, it's very good!

"A sacred light comes to our eyes and countenances when we have a personal bond with our loving Heavenly Father and his son, our Savior and Redeemer. With this bond our faces will mirror that 'sublime assurance' that he lives."

I know that when we spread the light of Christ through the light of our eyes, (especially cause we wear masks so this makes it even better), we will be able to help others feel the love of Christ.

Love you all, and stay safe!

Elder May
