Volume 11: Buns Vs Rolls

Salut tout le monde, ça va?

Another week has come and gone, here in Granby Quebec! This week was mostly about searching and finding new people to teach as soon as your point and weren't very many lessons but we have started a lot of conversations with new people!

Before I get into that, I want to talk about buns and rolls. Now I think that the bread you eat at dinner time with all the other great food you eat, are called buns. Now three of the other people in my District disagree very strongly and think they're called rolls. This very controversial topic went for some time. It started between Elder Harvey and I (we were doing exchanges), and it evolved to the whole district. It may have went for a long time...but we still didn't solve anything. Then it may have went for even longer when I was on a walk with my companion the same day... but we still didn't solve anything. But we did come to the conclusion is that three people think they are roles, and three people think their buns. So with this significant information we have no other choice but to take it to the zone for the final decision. We're going to make a pole for all the people in zone to vote and that will be the final decision. I would love to hear your opinions! But just know there's only one right answer.

Now for the fun people I found! So since we are now in lockdown we can't even go to the church, or do anything in person. So it's been even harder to find new people, to teach. There's only so much you can do with certain tactics on social media. Sometimes you got to be creative, or think outside the box little bit. Well for me this is kind of thinking outside the box it probably isn't for anybody else but it's fine. I discovered the Facebook groups! I didn't know how many there were and how they literally have a group for everything. I have seen, and stumbled across very interesting groups. But that's just the world we live in. I've decided to join some photography groups, some running groups, some biking groups, and even a Nintendo group! It's crazy how much success I've had already! It's as simple as beginning with a common interest. I have began talking to like five new people so that's pretty cool! The people I found we're on a trail running page. I've been asking where I could find some places to run around Granby, and there have been a lot of responses! The key is being normal and natural with people some people could get weirded out of you ask if they want a Book of Mormon after you comment "nice post" on something. That could scare people. I have also learned to have patience because with time, the gospel will come up, and that will be the opportunity to share the gospel! I really learned that patience is key especially with social media!

Another great and interesting thing that happened this week is that all of a sudden I have become a Spanish elder. I am now in 2 conversations all in Spanish. And they both think I am a nice fluent Spanish speaker. But I assured them that its basically all Google translate and I don't know what I'm saying. But hopefully it all goes well and they will want to start meeting with some Spanish missionaries and not me because I don't know Spanish. Luckily, I got Elder Lopez helping me out and I'm very grateful for that!

Lockdown definitely sucks, but we are going to make the best of it as we are able to explore Granby! Hopefully we can find some nice places to take pictures, make nice videos, and just have a great time outside for once. We have even been able to watch some live television of people getting pulled over right outside our window, because they are out past 8 o clock. Fun stuff.

I also got to see my fav Elder Depew, it was very nice to catch up<3 he is doing very well in Seattle.

Yesterday had the opportunity to watch devotional with Elder and Sister Gong! They gave some great remarks I like to share some of them with you guys! Elder Gong challenged each of us to work on three things this year!

1)Deepen our relationship with God.

2)Change the future now.

3)Make a better me.

I hope all you guys take the time to ponder these three things, and really put it into this year! Even though times are hard we can make it the best we possibly can! It all starts with us!

I hope you all have a great week, and remain steadfast though these tough times!

Love Elder May
